I Have A Dream

This post is not related in any way to the speech given by Dr. Martin Luther King.

Every human being living on this earth (and many animals) have dreams that they want to achieve. In the great frame of human evolution I see over and over again, one group of people attempting to achieve their dream(s) at the expense of one or more other groups of people.

Being a modern serf, I have had many dreams and a number of them (mercifully) have been given to me:
(‘) love from a goddess,
(b) a virgin wife,
(g) a chance to be a part of a business group (e.g. Rudolph W. Giuliani),
(d) a college education,
but greatest of all, (e) a thirteen year career. All of my failures, experiences, and achievements have fermented in this thirteen year time into a coherent symbolic dream that I am starting to realize.

I see so many other dreams becoming mirages, I see so many people holding their dreams at the expense of the public, and now I see this pressure becoming a vise on my dreams, my existence.

Why can’t I pursue my dreams? I am only one man. How can one stupid man be such a threat to those in power?

One group of men seek to hold religious dreams that everyone must follow. Other groups of men and women seek to hold political dreams that everyone must follow. Still other groups of mostly men but some women too seek to hold military dreams that everyone must follow.

Being a serf, “everyone” includes me.

It is a dream of man to extricate him/herself from these chains without losing the piece of ground one has built life upon. I look at the great frame of evolution in this global village and ask, “What are my chances?”
