Plogger installation

In the help made available by the developers of Gallery, there is a PHP script that invokes a shell “unzip” command. I used this to create the 42MB image of Gallery and tried to install again. You can tell from the title of this post that this second attempt did not get me past the authentication step. So for three hours I deleted every Gallery file from the server again.

Next on PowWeb’s autoinstaller package list is something named “Plogger”. I downloaded this and uploaded it to the server. This package took the required database information and served up an admin password that did not work. After the second install attempt, I manually used the MySQL administrative interface provided by PowWeb to set the MD5 encrypted password to the value served at the time of installation. Once I got past the login screen I found that Plogger has all these menu items that are not implemented. It is just like ZenPhoto in that pictures can be uploaded but not displayed and worse because it demands logging in after every menu click.

Debugging other people’s code gets old really quick: and it would be in the best interests of PowWeb not to make package links available that do not work. I am sure that all these trials are placing some strain on their servers.

  1. Awsome info and right to the point. I am not sure if this is really the best place to ask but do you people have any thoughts on where to employ some professional writers? Thanks in advance 🙂
